Alright. So here is the breakdown of bandbo.com. Outside of the obvious directories of resources and message boards to post your own stuff we have NEW ARTIST PROFILES (http://inside.bandbo.com). Artist create a profile and add music and photos BUT whats cool is the shows feature. When you add shows to your profile they are immediately added to the show list in whatever state you are playing in. Let’s say your a DJ from the UK (http://inside.bandbo.com/profile.php?id=79) and you’ve added to your profile that your playing in DC on the 29th. Well, it gets added to the local shows page in DC (http://dmv.bandbo.com/list/shows.php). So you’ve already begun promoting your show in that state before you get there. And since shows are listed chronologically it stays on the board until the date passes. PLUS, when you click on the show, depending on if you entered the address right, google maps shows you where it is.

I know, I sound like a broken record with this, but many bands are creating profiles and leaving most of it blank, which means you’re not going to benefit from the features we’ve added. And, since on our homepage we are randomly featuring bands with profiles it might be good to have your music and stuff uploaded for when visitors click through.

I stress this because more and more features for the site will be oriented around profiles and what bands/artists/DJ’s have uploaded on them. We’re not trying to compete with MySpace but rather use some of those features in a way that meets the needs of local musicians and fans in a more efficient manner.
